California’s KCRW has restored my faith in the un-satellite side of radio. Maybe I’m a late bloomer to their show Morning Becomes Eclectic, but it’s pretty inspiring. I’m prejudice too because I consistently love everyone they bring into the damn studio for their on-air sessions. Some of these artists I’ve been wanting to see get some more exposure (like the gifted Mia Doi Todd who appeared back in May of 2008), and some who’ve since gotten more deserved exposure (like the inimitable Bat For Lashes), and some are just plain damn good artists:
Sea Wolf, Brazilian Girls, The Raconteurs, Delta Spirit, The Black Keys, Tilly & The Wall, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Bird & The Bee, David Gray, Cold War Kids, Spoon, Andrew Bird, The Decemberists…
The list goes on… You can find them all here, each with in-studio video of the complete session. Very cool.
I’d say start at the top and let it play itself through all the sessions, but if you got something better to do at least check out the first six performances from 2010. Skipping through the Vampire Weekend session, the least of which is necessary at this point.
